The Optimizer® Smart System
The Optimizer Smart is a minimally invasive implantable device that treats patients experiencing symptoms of moderate to severe heart failure (HF) even after appropriate medical treatment. The device operates by delivering precisely timed electric pulses called CCMTM (Cardiac Contractility Modulation) therapy.
As a result, patients experience a higher quality of life through the reduction of HF symptoms such as overwhelming shortness of breath and fatigue.
Mechanism of action and results
The FIX-HF-5C study showed a significant reduction in cardiovascular and heart failure hospitalization and mortality as composite endpoint at six months. Additionally clinical and functional status improved throughout the six months observation period.
The CCM-Registry population shows a sustained effect over 2 years. The results from the registry also confirm a significant reduction in hospitalization for heart failure when compared to 12 months prior to treatment.
